Dear Fellow Terlingua World Championship Shoot-Out Golfer:
You are hereby invited to the Twenty-third Annual Tom Skipper Memorial Terlingua World Championship Golf Shoot-Out. This year's event is scheduled for Friday, October 31st, 2008 at the Ambush Golf Club in Lajitas, Texas. Thirty carts are available at the golf course. If you are able to provide your own electric cart, please do so as it will allow for more participants. Play commences with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m., rain or shine, cold or fog . . . the show will go on.
The 2008 event falls on Halloween for the fourth time in its vaunted, haunted history, the first time being the first tournament in 1986, once again in 1997, and too in 2003. It will not happen again until 2014, six years in the future, so feel free to have some fun this year with a Halloween theme of your own choosing. The entry fee is $95.00 per golfer / $570.00 per team and is required in advance to facilitate the planning process. The format is a 6-man team scramble with 10 teams totaling 60 golfers being the target, more if private carts are available. It is difficult to gauge just how full the tournament will become and how just fast it will do so. So, it is highly recommended that you act promptly if you seriously intend to be a part of this not-so-serious affair.
All entries must be cleared through the PO Box listed in the letterhead. No telephone entries will be accepted! Postmarks and player histories will be used to determine who will play if entries exceed available spots. Preference will be given to previous years' participants if their entry is postmarked on or before September 30, 2008 - first paid, first played thereafter. Payments received after the tournament is full will be returned or deposited for "standby" status to replace cancellations or no-shows as requested by the entrant. Refunds not paid at the tournament will be made by mail.
