Ambush at Lajitas
AMBUSH GOLF COURSE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO RIO GRANDE FLOODING. WE ANTICIPATE RE-OPENING THE GOLF COURSE IN MARCH OF 2009! ALL OTHER AREAS OF LAJITAS ARE FULLY OPEN AND AVAILABLE FOR YOU AS OUR GUEST TO ENJOY! WE APOLOGIZE FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE AND WILL UPDATE THIS SITE WITH MORE INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE!
The Ambush Golf Course This championship, 18-hole golf course is every bit as unique as Lajitas itself. Only four years old, the Ambush at Lajitas has received stellar reviews from highly regarded publications including: Golf Magazine, Cigar Aficionado, Executive Golfer and Travel + Leisure Golf.
The course features four holes on an island in the Rio Grande and—the most unique aspect of the course—an optional par one in Mexico, Hole 11A. Golf Course Architects Bechtol and Russell designed The Ambush using Dominant Plus Bent Grass and Bermuda Grass 419, while heavily contouring the course to reflect the area's mountainous ridges (nearby peaks climb 8,000 feet above sea level). Bechtol adds, "Golfers will be distracted by the sheer beauty of the landscape and we hope that they, like us, will be inspired by the setting."
Complementing the golf course is a golf shop with a staff of professionals and a complete line of golf merchandise. A spacious practice area with a chipping green and a large putting green supplied with Calloway golf balls is located in front of the golf shop. Green fees are currently $65 (includes cart).
