Five thousand, five hundred and sixty yards doesn't make for a lengthy golf course but this one is plenty longer than meets the eye. The third of the golf course that's not fairways or greens is desert - not sandy desert, but rocky, thorny, brushy desert. Lots of lost balls and unplayable lies for shots missing the short grass which makes that what ain't short grass the "toughest mile of golf in Texas."
This is target golf where driver is a dangerous thing. Forced carries to blind landing areas that run out into the unplayable desert make a crisp iron game essential. Best bring one with you . . . .or plenty of golf balls.
